New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra apartment on Sunday, police said. He was 34.
Rajput’s last big screen release was Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore.
Manoj Sharma, the additional commissioner of police (Western Region) told news agency PTI that the actor died by suicide at his residence in Bandra. A police team is at the residence, he said.
The actor, who became popular with his starring role in the television show Pavitra Rishta made his foray into films with Kai Po Che! in 2013.
He has starred in movies such as Shuddh Desi Romance, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Raabta, Kedarnath and Sonchiriya.
Bollywood celebrities have expressed shock at the news. Actor Akshay Kumar tweeted that he was left “shocked and speechless”. “Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family,” he said. Riteish Deshmukh wrote also expressed shock and said he was deeply saddened by the news.
