The foundation laid for the first Krishna temple to be built in Islamabad was demolished by some religious groups. Bowing to pressure from Islamic fundamentalists, the Imran Khan government had prohibited the construction of the temple recently. The temple was being constructed under the supervision of the Capital Development Authority of Pakistan.
