Despite the US and NATO spending billions of dollars to prepare security forces in Afghanistan over nearly two decades, the Taliban have captured almost every part of the country within a week. At present, the US is evacuating the rest of its citizens in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the country’s President Ashraf Ghani fled to Tajikistan. The process of transfer of power is going on in the country. It is not clear when this will happen and who among the Taliban was negotiating.
