New Delhi: Pakistan has lodged a protest with New Delhi, alleging that Indian Army soldiers have violated ceasefire along the Line of Control, resulting in the alleged death of two civilians in Pakistan.
Deccan Herald has reported that this is the first time one the two neighbours has alleged a ceasefire violation since the February 2021 decision to strictly abide by it.
Two civilians were killed and another injured on the Pakistan side of the LoC in the Satwal sector.
New Delhi’s acting envoy to Islamabad was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of Pakistan, DH reported, and a “strong protest” was conveyed to him.
A statement by the Pakistan foreign office, quoted by PTI, said:
“Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian forces, it was underscored that such senseless acts are in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, reaffirmed in February 2021,”
The Indian Army has claimed that its soldiers foiled an attempt by three people from Pakistan to enter the country with arms and illegally.
The Jammu-based White Knight Corps said in a tweet, “Infiltration bid eliminated in KrishnaGhati Sector on 23/24 Jun, in which 1 soldier suffered gunshot wound & evacuated. 3 infiltrators running towards LC (Line of Control) engaged by own troops & seen falling down near LC.”
