J&K: 17-Year-Old Migrant Labourer Shot Dead, Another Injured in Budgam

This was the eighth targeted killing in Kashmir since May 1.

New Delhi: A minor migrant labourer was shot dead while another injured by militants in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on the night of Thursday, June 2.

At around 9.10 pm, militants fired at the two labourers at a brick kiln at Magraypora in Chadoora area of the central Kashmir district.

Officials said the labourers, identified as Dilkush Kumar and Guri, were injured in the attack.

While Guri was discharged from the hospital, Kumar was shifted to SMHS hospital here where he succumbed to injuries.

News agency PTI has quoted officials as having said that Dilkush Kumar was 17 years old,

He was a resident of the Arnia area of Bihar.

In the immediate aftermath, police cordoned off the area.

The attack on the migrant labourer took place as Union home minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting of top officials including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to discussed the security situation in the Union territory.

Doval along with RAW chief Samnat Goel closeted with Shah for over an hour at the home minister’s office at North Block this afternoon, PTI reported.

Details of the meeting are not known.

Hours before this attack, a bank employee from Rajasthan, Vijay Kumar, was shot dead in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the last three weeks, five targeted attacks on minority community members have been reported from Jammu and Kashmir. This was the eighth targeted killing in Kashmir since May 1.
