Who are the women at the forefront of these protests?
Lakhs of protestors have been protesting at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh for almost a week now. Some have been sitting on a hunger strike too. The Wire’s Akhil Kumar spoke to the women at the forefront of these protests. Homemakers and first-time protestors told The Wire that they fear for the future of their children in India post NRC and CAA. They say that they will all be left scrambling for documents that prove their citizenship to the State and that’s why this Act must go.
