Almost a year ago, widespread protests broke out against Sterlite Copper’s Tuticorin plant after locals accused the company of poisoning natural resources in the area. A large number of people here suffer from diseases that they say occurred due to toxic pollutants from Vedanta’s Sterlite Copper plant.
