The counting of votes for the Delhi assembly elections is set to begin on Saturday (February 8) at 8 am, with the outcome likely to have significant implications for the national capital’s governance.
The polls, held on Wednesday (February 5), saw a three-way contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress.
There are 70 seats in the Delhi legislative assembly and a party or coalition will need to win 36 seats to rule.
Exit polls have largely predicted a BJP victory, with Axis My India giving the BJP 45-55 seats and the AAP 15-25 seats.
Results of assembly seats which underwent by-polls – Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh and Erode in Tamil Nadu – are also being declared on Saturday.
