Listen: Bharat Jodo Yatra Surpassed Expectations, But Will Pivot Into Electoral Gains?

In conversation with Shruti Kapila, professor of Indian history and global thought at the Cambridge University.

After walking around 3,500 kilometres over nearly five months, the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi finally reached its destination in Kashmir. Along the way, braving the elements and hostility of the BJP and its supporters, Gandhi kept on walking resolutely. Congress leaders joined him, as did others from the opposition, including actors, activists and public figures, along with thousands of Indian citizens.

“The harder question is, will it have any impact on the elections,” says Shruti Kapila, professor of Indian history and global thought at the Cambridge University, in this podcast discussion with Sidharth Bhatia. “Even so, it is an incredibly important first step, a turning of the page in Indian politics.”
