New Delhi: The Delhi government’s newly-launched job portal, to connect job seekers with recruiters on the phone and through WhatsApp, has proved to be a major draw. In the first 24 hours after its launch, 4,294 employers and 1,89,879 job seekers registered on the portal designed to be a “rozgar bazaar” or employment market.
During the launch of the portal on Monday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had stated that it will bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, and help boost and revive the economy from the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Job providers looking to recruit people can go to the website and update their requirements. Likewise, job seekers can also update their qualifications, experience and desired positions under multiple job categories. Kejriwal had stated that the portal will particularly help people who lost their jobs and businesses which had been affected due to the pandemic and the lockdown.
In view of this situation, he had stated that the Delhi government wanted to now “pay attention to the economy”.
The portal, he said, has been designed to enable shops, professionals, industries and construction companies who are not able to find the required manpower to restart, as well as to help people who lost their jobs to find one again. It will “synchronise and match these two sides”.
Elaborating on how the system will work, Kejriwal said, “People seeking jobs can also register on this website, citing the experience they have, their academic qualifications, and the categories they want jobs in, such as tourism, hotel industry, construction, etc. They can also fill in multiple categories. This is a rozgaar Bazaar, where the job seekers and job providers will come together and people will get jobs.”

Delhi employment minister Gopal Rai added that it was an open platform on which any person can apply for one or multiple jobs. “The job seekers will log in with their mobile number and then they will get the option to select the category of job. One person can apply for one or more jobs on this open platform. The employers can also log in and put up their requirements.”
The difference between this and other private websites, he noted, was that this was “completely free”. The site, it was pointed out, is also secure since it allows people to only register through their phones through a one-time password.
Within the first six hours after its launch, the site witnessed the registration of 51,403 job-seekers and 1,071 employers, who posted 18,585 vacancies and made 26,722 connections with the applicants.

By the end of the first day, these numbers rose sharply as 1,00,903 vacancies were posted on the site by 4,294 employers. On the other side, 1,89,879 job seekers have applied using the portal.
Kejriwal expressed his delight at the portal getting a good response on Twitter.
I am glad job portal is proving useful to both job-seekers and businesses looking for workforce. https://t.co/MTir0XwiQ5
