New Delhi: Senior advocate Dushyant Dave on Thursday, January 14, quit as president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
Acting SCBA secretary Rohit Panday was among those who confirmed to PTI that the senior advocate had resigned with immediate effect.
Noting that virtual elections had not been held even after the term of the executive committee was up, Dave wrote in his letter, “I feel that I have forfeited my right to continue as your Leader.”
As reported by LiveLaw, the elections could not be held within the period stipulated by the Election Committee of the SCBA due to reservations among a section of lawyers.
“I understand their position and have no quarrel with it but to me any further continuation as the President in these circumstances will be morally wrong,” Dave was quoted as having said in his letter.
Dave, in his letter, has also thanked the SCBA and its members for their contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
