Lakhimpur Kheri Violence-Accused Ashish Mishra Hospitalised With Suspected Case of Dengue

Mishra has been moved from the district jail where he had been lodged to a government hospital while a blood sample has been sent to a lab for confirmation.

New Delhi: Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Kumar Mishra and chief accused in the October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, has been hospitalised with a suspected case of dengue on October 24.

Ashish, who was arrested for murder by the UP police on October 9, has been moved from the district jail in which he was lodged to a district hospital, according to news agency ANI.

A blood sample has reportedly been sent to a lab to confirm whether or not it is a case of dengue.

“It is not confirmed as to whether he (Mishra) is suffering from dengue. His sample was sent for testing on Friday. The picture will be clear once the report comes,” P.P. Singh, superintendent of the Lakhimpur Kheri district jail, told PTI.

Eight people were killed in the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri which took place on October 3. Four of those slain were farmers who were killed as a VIP convoy ploughed through them while the other four were killed in the violence that followed.

Apart from Ashish Mishra, 12 others have been arrested for their involvement in the incident.
