Sikh Forum Condemns Attack on Indian Consular Camp in Canada, Demands Action Against Perpetrators

The Sikh Forum has requested the Canadian Authorities to take strict action against perpetrators of the alleged attack.

New Delhi: The Sikh Forum has strongly condemned the alleged attack on the grounds surrounding a Hindu temple in Canada’s Brampton, saying that such incidents are completely against the Sikh ideology.

“The Sikh Forum strongly condemns any acts of Violence on the complex of Hindu Mahasabha Temple, Brampton in Canada.  This is completely against the Sikh Ideology. The Sikhs respect all the religions and are against anyone creating any obstruction to anyone’s right to practice his/her faith (sic),” the Forum said in a statement on Tuesday (November 5).

Earlier, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa had claimed in a statement that the violence was perpetrated by “anti-India elements” at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton near Toronto and said it occurred during a consular camp to help local life certificate beneficiaries.

“We are firm in our belief and commitment that no true Sikh will ever do such a thing. We request the Canadian Authorities to take strict action against the radicals/fringe elements and perpetrators of this heinous crime is dealt promptly in accordance with the law of the land. The Sikh Forum stands in solidarity with all peaceful initiatives to diffuse the situation,” said the Sikh Forum in the statement.
