In an affidavit on the proposal of the court’s media regulation in the ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court regarding Sudarshan TV’s program, the Centre has said that if the court thinks it is necessary to outline guidelines for electronic and print media, the same should first be undertaken for digital media.

The government has claimed that digital media is not only promoting violence but also terrorism by deliberately spreading hatred and that web-based digital media is tarnishing the image of many institutions and is very dangerous.
