The killing of constable Mohammad Ramzan Parrey is the third such incident of security personnel being attacked while on vacation at home.
New Delhi: A 28-year-old unarmed soldier of the Border Security Force (BSF) was shot dead by militants at his home in Kashmir’s Bandipore district on the night of Wednesday (September 27) after his family resisted attempts to kidnap him.
According to NDTV, the militants also opened fire at the family of constable Mohammad Ramzan Parrey – deployed with BSF’s 73rd battalion and who had returned home on a vacation just days earlier – injuring four of them.
Showkat Ahmad, a cousin of the BSF constable, told The Telegraph that four heavily armed militants “barged into our house looking for him. When they tried to abduct him, we resisted and there was a scuffle, following which they fired at him.”

Ahmad added that the BSF constable had joined the force seven years ago, during which they never faced harassment from anybody. This time, however, he added that the men had “come with a purpose.”
The killing of Mohammad is third such incident of security personnel being attacked while on vacation at home.
According to The Telegraph, 22-year-old lieutenant Ummer Fayaz Parrey was abducted by militants on May 9 from Batpora village in Kulgam from a cousin’s wedding, with his bullet-ridden body being found the next day about 30 kms from his village.
Lieutenant Ummer was on leave and unarmed when he was attacked.
About a month later, on June 15, policeman Shabir Ahmad Dar – also on leave – was shot dead outside his home at Bogund village in Kulgam.
Former chief minister of the state, Omar Abdullah, took to Twitter to express his condolences, calling the attack “abominable”.
