Eminent Muslim personalities and scholars condemned this action and ask the government to show proof of the claims against PFI.

Meanwhile, the entire area of Jamia Nagar, of which Shaheen Bagh is a part, was slapped with section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for a period of almost two months. (From September 19 to November 27). This means that the entire area, including the Jamia Millia Islamia University, would be under curfew and assembly of more than three people would not be allowed.
