Around 15,000 Christians converged at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on February 20 to protest against “rising hate and violence” in the BJP-ruled states.

Attacks on the members of the Christian community are on the rise. In the past few weeks, multiple attacks on pastors and churches have emerged from Uttar Pradesh. The state topped in terms of attacks on the community in 2022.

A Christian bookstall of Gideon’s International at the World Book Fair in Delhi was also targeted by Vishva Hindu Parishad activists. Chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans, they vandalised the stall of the Christain organisation.

Members of the community say they are “alarmed” by the rising number of attacks on their community from the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states across the country.

To protest “rising hate and violence” against the community, around 15,000 Christian community members staged a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on February 20.
