New Delhi: A 15-year-old boy from Agra was taken into juvenile custody on allegations that he had “threatened” to “blow up” Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
An FIR was filed for criminal intimidation at Lucknow’s Sushant Golf City police station after the boy had sent the threat by WhatsApp on the state’s Dial 112 helpline number, according to Indian Express. The message was received by a policeman named Anjul Kumar who was on duty.
The number was tracked by UP Police’s surveillance team and cyber cell within 24 hours, following which the boy was apprehended and presented to the juvenile board a day later, the report said.

Unaware of the complaint, the boy’s parents were shocked and said their son is usually quiet and spends most of his time playing, especially volleyball. He studies in class 10 and aims to get a government job under sports quota, his family told Indian Express.
The report added, citing his family, that he is a good students and does well at debating competitions at school.
The boy’s older brother told Indian Express, “A class 10 student is being portrayed as an enemy of the state – perhaps he can be counselled, or just be told what is right and wrong.”

Sachin Kumar Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Sushant Golf City, told Indian Express, “The FIR was filed by a policeman because it mentioned the chief minister, and had been sent to the official number. Prima facie it appears that the minor did not mean to carry out the threat. Further investigation is pending.”
On speaking to his family, the boy said that he was in good health and wanted to come back home.
