When sharing a satirical cartoon on Facebook, or even texting someone a joke on Whatsapp can earn you a night in jail; and widely-respected human rights activists can find themselves accused of being ‘Urban Naxals’, even the most innocuous of statements can leave us nervous – whether we meant to “dissent” or not.
In such fraught times, do we bow down to these silent yet very present pressures or do we fight back?
These are just some of the things this poem will make you ask yourself.
Written and performed by Bappadittya Sarkar and music by Atandra Ray.
