Last month, The Wire and other media outlets, broke the story of a woman who was allegedly sexually harassed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
The Supreme Court decided not to conduct an enquiry under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act or the Vishaka guidelines and instead constituted an in-house committee to look into the woman’s complaint.
Some young lawyers from across the country have begun sending copies of India’s law against sexual harassment to all 27 judges of the Supreme Court, in a bid to make it consider applying the law in the current case.
