New Delhi: A Jammu court remanded Waheed Parra to police custody till January 18, two days after he was given bail by an NIA court that noted that there was not even a ‘whisper’ of his involvement in the case for which he was being held according to the NIA’s original charge sheet.
Jammu and Kashmir Police whisked away the People’s Democratic Party youth wing president as he came out of the Jammu district jail right after he was released on Saturday, January 9.
J&K police have now held him in a “case related to an alleged nexus involving politicians, terrorists and secessionist forces,” according to an official who spoke to PTI.
Former chief minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti had on Saturday itself tweeted that Parra had been detained by the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) in an act of vendetta.

The unnamed official told PTI that Parra was produced before a court in Jammu on Monday and that the court remanded him to police custody till January 18. He will be taken to Srinagar for questioning, the official reportedly said.
Parra was arrested by the NIA on November 25 in a militancy-related case, one day after he filed his nomination papers and just before the district development council polls in the Union Territory.
In NIA custody, Parra won the election from his hometown in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
