New Delhi: The government of India has withdrawn its controversial Artificial Intelligence (AI) related advisory which mandated that the firms should take its permission before launching their products in the country.
The Hindu has reported that the government issued a fresh advisory on March 15 that has put the March 1 advisory in “suppression”. The March 1 advisory had attracted criticism from various quarters.
Business Standard has reported that the latest advisory asks the tech companies to ensure that their AI products are properly labelled to prevent their misuse.

The advisory does ask the companies to ensure that there should be a consent pop up mechanism for the people. It should let the users know about the ‘unreliable output’ that could exist. The government has also asked the firms to ensure that the AI platforms should not affect the electoral process in the country.
Incidentally, Google AI was under fire recently. When asked if Prime Minister Nardendra Modi was a fascist, it replied as him being “accused of implementing policies some experts have characterised as fascist.” The tool also said, “These accusations are based on a number of factors, including the BJP’s Hindu nationalist ideology, its crackdown on dissent, and its use of violence against religious minorities.”
