Finance Bill Passed Without Discussion, Lok Sabha Adjourned Sine Die

The Budget Session was scheduled to end on April 3. 

New Delhi: Nearly two weeks ahead of schedule, Lok Sabha passed the Finance Bill 2020 and was adjourned sine die on Monday in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

Minutes before Speaker Om Birla adjourned, the House passed the Finance Bill 2020 without any discussion.

The Union government said it was an “extraordinary situation”, a reference to the coronavirus pandemic, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the bill for passage.

The House negated amendments moved by Opposition members.

The Budget Session was scheduled to end on April 3.
