Eight fire engines, three jetties and five water tankers were rushed to the spot to control the fire.
Mumbai: At least 14 people died and many were injured in a late night fire at a multi-storey building in Kamala Mills compound in the Lower Parel area of Mumbai.
Those injured have been rushed to King Edward Memorial Hospital and some are believed to be in critical condition. Three people who suffered serious burn injuries have been taken to the Breach Candy hospital, reported Indian Express.
“At least 24-25 casualties have come in, 14 dead. For those who came in dead and we are following procedure as per law and for others, they are being rushed to surgery,” chief medical officer of KEM hospital told The Quint.
The fire started at restaurant 1 Above a little after 12:30 am on Thursday and spread quickly, reported ANI. An FIR has reportedly been registered against the restaurant, with charges of culpable homicide.

Kamala Mills is a refurbished old industrial compound that now houses a host of swanky restaurants and other commercial establishments.

Several news channels also operate from the compound and had to shut down their broadcast due to damage to their equipment.
