The ABVP, students’ wing of the RSS, won two panel posts as well – secretary and joint secretary.
New Delhi: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the students’ wing of the Congress, has won the two top posts in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), students’ wing of the RSS, won the other panel posts – secretary and joint secretary.
The elections were held on Tuesday, with a 43% voter turnout.
Rocky Tuseed and Kunal Sehrawat from NSUI were elected president and vice president, while Mahamedha and Uma Shankar from ABVP are the new secretary and joint secretary. The results were a setback for the ABVP, which had retained the top two posts in the last four DUSU elections. Both NSUI and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi tweeted about the victory:
A major comeback for us in #DUSU2017, students of DU have given us a huge responsibility to fight for their rights.(1/4)

The All India Students’ Association, students’ wing of the CPI(ML), came in third in all four positions.
“We were in the union for four years. These are dirty tricks by the Left and NSUI. The Left put out dummy candidates to help the NSUI win,” an ABVP member told NDTV about the party’s defeat.
The NSUI has demanded a recounting for the secretary and joint secretary posts, New18 reported.
