Podcast: ‘My Book on My Bipolar Disorder Is Part of a Larger Project to Form a Community’

Aparna Piramal Raje gives a candid account of her own experiences with mental illness and the therapies that helped her.

Many years ago Aparna Piramal Raje and her family noticed some behaviour changes in her. She had manic bursts of energy followed by depression. “I used to lose sleep and wanted to save the world. I made life very difficult for everyone around me and was very physically gruelling,” she says in this podcast interview with Sidharth Bhatia.

Finally a decision was made for medical attention and she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. With the help of medication and a lot of support from her near and dear ones, Aparna has been able to manage her situation.

She has now written a book, Chemical Khichdi: How I Hacked My Mental Health, which is a candid account of her own experiences and the therapies that helped her.
