Indore (MP): Spiritual guru Bhayyu Maharaj (originally Uday Singh Deshmukh) allegedly committed suicide today by shooting himself. This was confirmed by deputy inspector genaral (DIG) Indore H.C. Mishra.
He was rushed to the Bombay Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries as verified by general manager of the hospital, Rahul Parashar.
The saint is very popular in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh because of his spiritual work and social service. His ashram is situated in Indore city.
His disciples include top political leaders such as Devendra Fadnavis and celebrated artists like Lata Mangeshkar. He also played the role of a mediator when the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement led by Anna Hazare was at its peak.
A large number of his supporters gathered in front of the hospital after hearing the news of his alleged suicide.
