Delhi’s esteemed Jamia Millia Islamia university was thrown into turmoil on January 25, 2023 after students affiliated to SFI planned to screen the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the administration said no permission was sought to screen the film, there was heavy police deployment at the university. More than a dozen students were detained and classes were suspended. The Wire‘s Yaqut Ali was at the scene to report on the day’s events.
