Amit Shah ‘Missing’? NSUI Asks Where Home Minister Is During Pandemic

Nagesh Kariyappa, general secretary of the NSUI, said since the government has failed to support the citizens and be answerable for its deeds, a missing person complaint was filed against the home minister.

New Delhi: A missing person report has been filed with the Delhi Police against home minister Amit Shah over his alleged ‘disappearance at the time of the pandemic’, news reports said.

The report was filed by Nagesh Kariyappa, general secretary of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

According to reports, Kariyappa said that politicians are supposed to serve the nation, and not run away from a crisis situation. He further said that the entire country is suffering from a disastrous pandemic and all that the people need now is the government to support the citizens and be answerable for its deeds.

Since the current government has failed to do so, the NSUI has filed a missing person complaint against the home minister and awaiting a response from the government which is liable to answer its people.

According to the Hindu, the Delhi Police had come to question Kariyappa at the NSUI office.

NSUI national secretary and in-charge of its media and communication wing, Lokesh Chugh, told IANS that until 2013, the politicians were responsible towards the citizens, but things changed totally after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014, and now the ‘second person in command’ in the central government is ‘missing’ amid the pandemic.

Several critical reports against India’s prime minister and home minister have been doing the rounds since the second wave of COVID-19 ravaged the country with the highest daily death toll, amid shortage of basic resources like oxygen, beds and vaccines to fight the pandemic.

However, none of the reports seem to be affecting our leaders as citizens (instead of our leaders) continue to find medicines and oxygen to save their loved ones.
