With elections to the Haryana assembly due soon, state BJP president Subhash Barala is confident that his party would return to power with even more seats this time.
In an interview to Gaurav Vivek Bhatnagar of The Wire, Barala claimed that BJP has won the hearts and minds of people in the state by taking up the slogan of “Haryana ek, Haryanvi ek” (Haryana one, Haryanvi one) seriously and changing the system.
Insisting that before the BJP government came to power, the state was plagued by politics of dynastic rule, regionalism, casteism and corruption, he said these were the elements the Manohar Lal Khattar government changed. By making various processes transparent, like employment, the government has tried to remove corruption, Barala stressed.
Claiming that the BJP government has given more jobs than any previous government, that farmers are getting their first major loan waiver along with better prices for their produce, and that the opposition has been struggling with infighting and family feuds, Barala exuded confidence that BJP would be able to meet its target of over 75 seats in the 90-member house this time.
