A case has been registered against two rightwing portals, OpIndia and Khabar Tak, under Section 295 A of the IPC for spreading information that the police alleges was not only false but also created communal tension.
The outlets had initially claimed that a Hindu boy, Rohit Jaiswal, was “sacrificed” in a mosque in Bela Dih village in Gopalganj, Bihar. They now claim that the boy’s father has retracted his statements.
The villagers themselves – both Hindus and Muslims – have denied reports of any ‘sacrifice’ and stated that there is no feeling of communal rivalry within the village.

While posts on social media claimed that the victim’s family was forced “by Muslims” to flee the village, the victim’s mother said that they were asked to leave by the authorities themselves as they were threatened by those involved in the crime.
She has also dismissed reports and rumours claiming her son Rohit was killed in a mosque
The family of the victim states that the details of their son’s death are unclear, but two out of the five minors accused of the crime have reportedly confessed that they killed Rohit.
The family, along with villagers, believes their son was killed by a group of five boys out of whom four are Muslims and one is Hindu
Having acknowledged this fact, they have collectively denied the communal angle the story has been presented with by rightwing activists and politicians.
According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the police too has made it clear that there is no communal angle to the incident
